The American Experiment (www.american-experiment.org, www.facebook.com/TheAmericanExperiment) is replaying a Movie Night series - What's in a Revolution, starting on June 16 with the American Revolution.
The American, French and Russian Revolutions were all about people trying to liberate themselves from their government and yet only the Americans ended up in a free society - why? What made the difference? At each event we will watch a movie on the revolution of the night (while eating popcorn of course!). Afterwards we'll discuss what happened. You'll receive a handout that includes the circumstances leading up to the revolution and takeways. It is fascinating to see how dramatically different each one was. You'll learn interesting facts like which revolution created the metric system and why? What did the Enlightenment period have to do with? And in which country was there actually two revolutions?
You do not need to attend all the movie nights, but for maximum impact do come to all three.
