Spending, spending, and more spending!  We’ll hear the left blaming Republican Presidents as the major culprit in increased spending issue.  And while it may be true that spending has increased more under the last three Republican presidents than under the current and last Democratic President, we have to remember that the Congress is responsible for spending, and controlling the rates of increased spending.  The “power of the purse” leaves the Congress holding the bag of responsibility for spending.

Total Deficit Spending Since 1980:

Under Democratically-Controlled Congresses                   $8,839,698,000,000

Under Republican-Controlled Congresses                          $4,404,781,000,000

 

GOP Presidents    $9.5 trillion            

Dem Presidents    $3.8 trillion
