Event Description

I have accepted the responsibility as one of the local coordinators to get people aware of the upcoming Tea Party Nomination Process, not for third party but for conservative candidates.  This will give some candidates for 2012 a head start in the caucus process and it sounds like a powerful idea.  I believe that delegates from Colorado will be needed to attend and cast the representative votes.  I will find out more and get back with you all soon.

  • Mission Statement

To conduct a national "grassroots" Tea Party movement nominating convention for the offices of President and Vice President of the United States, as a fifty state Tea Party "straw poll," in Kansas City on Sept. 30th through Oct. 2th; at the same time providing each state's Tea Party and 9.12 groups a caucus area to rally and discuss their local, state, and national candidates and any legislation or issues important to their independent groups.

Changes:  The event will be in Kansas City, KS at the Woodlands Race Track.  Due to a date conflict with NASCAR on the dates originally scheduled, we have also moved the dates up a week.  Set up will now be Sept. 28 and 29 and the festivities will begin on Sept. 30 and run through Sunday Oct. 2nd.

You are welcome to begin contacting groups now.  I also want to make a clarification that some of the other regional coordinators have had questions about.  The ONLY groups that will be allowed a delegate will be Tea Party/Patriot/We The People/9-12 groups.  Republican Clubs are welcome to have a vendor booth set up, but they will not be allowed to have a delegate.

The website is transitioning to display a new banner and the location and dates will be updated on the website very soon.

A straw poll tally conducted from the several hundred or more local liberty groups would send a strong message to the Party on who has the base support.  I look forward to what there is in store though we could cunduct our own internal straw poll in late September in a style like we did for the 2010 election.

Update as of Aug. 10. Although the event was cancelled, Freedom Jamboree still wants to conduct the Straw Poll for the presidential candidate.  Hopefully soon we will be posting a poll on our site to determine who the Arapahoe Tea Party wants to nominate. Based on last night's debate, I am leaning towards Gingrich. Although I wouldn't nominate him to teach Sunday School to my kids, I think he might be the most effective president in terms of foreign policy and economic matters. Ron Paul has great ideas, but he is not slow, measured and statesmanlike in demeanor. I can't imagine Vladimir Putin taking him too seriously. What do you think?

Suggestion:  Edit the title by adding at the end "-- Event CANCELED see comments for details"

The message regarding the reasons for the cancellation is extremely important because while it is an out of town and out of state event it includes references to the logistics that cost to put events on.  Frankly, I am of the impression that this information would be quite helpful.

While their web site may be removed after some time I think that the Arapahoe County Tea Party site gets traffic that we do not know about and it is possible that the event posted here may be someone's link back to the jamboree information.  It might be appropriate to send a message to those people who had indicated above an interest in attending and link to the message so that our people all know.

It really does not hurt to leave the event up with a modified title at least through August and personally I am not sure I would take it down; but that's my opinion.

O.K. I thought his message was a good one for people to hear.

Lets leave the link up for a couple of weeks so people can read Mr. Temple's note.

I think if we can get someone who has family there it would save some cost if they can stay with them.  Looks like the hotels might be crowded that week.

This link should be helpful, providing a list of performers.

Jon David Kahn was just being interviewed by Larry O'Connor at Stage Right Show for Breitbart.tv.  Lisa Mei Norton was in the chat area and commented she, Jon, and others would be performing.  See also:

I think the basic premise is that a staw poll will be conducted by the delegate votes.  A final tally will then be forwarded to the Party Conventions with our preferences.  (IE.  34% for ... 26% for ... 20% for ... 10%...10% ....)
