The EPA is holding a "mining conference" titled "U.S. EPA Hardrock Mining Conference 2012:  Advancing Solutions for a New Legacy."   The stated purpose is "The conference will provide participants with an opportunity to examine and discuss current and future environmental issues which provide opportunities for efficient resource extraction, mine closure, and for the remediation of abandoned mines."  Check out what they have to say for the announcement:
