Event Description

Plan on attending the June meeting of Arapahoe County Tea Party on June 5.  There is a lot to be talking about and ideas for getting involved for the next few months.

Our leader, Randy Corporon will provide better details and a game plan or outline soon.

Arapahoe County Tea Party -- Monthly Meeting

6:30 - 8:30:  Meeting program to be announced soon

8:30:  Adjourn and socialize [room needs to have chairs and tables cleared and stored]

9:00:  Facilities are closed promptly by library staff

All of the candidates will be vying for your attention in June since the Colorado primary is scheduled for June 26.  This a terrific opportunity to meet candidates and become informed, involved as volunteers, or other activities.  Candidates for all positions are looking for monetary support--support them if you can.

Watch for event announcements for other groups that have educational meetings and events.  Many events will be posted in the events section or on the Facebook page (Arap TeaParty).

The meeting this evening was very lively and especially informative.  Several candidates or their surrogates spoke briefly and I will probably miss someone and I apologize for that.  Candidates included:  Senate District 28--Art Carlson and John S. Lyons, House District 36--Jim Parker, House District 42--Mike Donald, 18th Judicial District--George B. [GeorgeforDA.com], and CU Regent--Matt Arnold.

Thomas Ryan introduced a new web site "Barbeque Logic" that everyone will have to check out and return to often for ideas how to communicate with various people you meet.

Actually, Thomas Ryan was the speaker for the evening on the topic of FASTER legislation that was passed a few years ago that has resulted in a number of issues against the Colorado Constitution, including TABOR.  A lawsuit was filed recently by the Mountain States Legal Foundation with backing from the TABOR Foundation.

[Also note that FASTER has been a topic covered at Clear the Bench Colorado, so check there as well for information:  http://www.clearthebenchcolorado.org/2012/05/21/the-colorado-car-ta...

Many people present appeared to not be aware of this legislation other than that it had increased the car licensing "fees."  Learning how FASTER was accomplished and what it affects beyond taxes and irreparable harm to TABOR was beyond what most expected.

If you missed the meeting this evening, watch for other events where Mr. Ryan and others will be speaking and trying to inform Colorado citizens about this issue and possibly more.

Watch for more information how to become involved.  Check out a lot of good books that will help in conversations with your friends and associates.  Also, there are a number of documentaries that are either currently out or will be released soon that should be seen and supported.

This was another great meeting with at least 36 people in attendance this evening.

Karen Hurst has posted a message that they will be bringing some buttons and a DVD.  Please refer to the message at:  http://arapahoeteaparty.ning.com/profiles/blogs/tea-party-patriot-b...
