The American Experiment's second movie of the series is on the French Revolution. What went wrong that allowed the reign of Terror and then Napoleon instead of freedom as American's had after their revolution? If you missed the first one, still come. Each event is stand alone. You will learn the role the Enlightenment played along with creation of the metric system. While there was not many years between the two revolutions, there was dramatic philosophical, political and practical differences.
The American, French and Russian revolutions were supposed to be all about people liberating themselves. Yet two ended in absolute tyranny. Why? What made the American Revolution so different? How did Americans become the freest people in the world? Join us to find the answers to these powerful questions.
We all love movies. View a movie with us on each of these revolutions and discover why the people in each country revolted. Learn why they acted and responded the way they did. Bring your family and friends and enjoy the popcorn!
We will start with the American Revolution and proceed to the other two. You do not need to attend all the movie nights, but for maximum impact come to all three.
At each movie we will first cover the circumstances leading up to that night’s revolution. Then we will watch the movie. Afterwards kick back and discuss with us what we just learned and help finish up the popcorn! You will receive a handout detailing the pre-revolutionary circumstances and the takeaways that explain why the American Revolution turned out so differently than the French and Russian Revolutions. You will receive the handouts from any previous movie night events.
