Event Description

Let's meet at the SE corner of Arapahoe and Parker Rd. in the shopping center. This event has three purposes: 1) to publicize our goals to the general public 2) to send a message to Washington - perhaps will email pictures to Congress 3) to attract media attention. The Tea Party has been mentioned all during the debt ceiling debates. Let's keep the pressure on!

Bring signs to wave, or just cardboard - I will have markers/paint you can use to make signs there.

Sign suggestions: "Honk if you love the U.S.A." "Cut, Cap and Balance" "Cut it or shut it", "Congress - cut up your credit card!" "Honk if you love your children/grandchildren"

We want to be positive, non-partisan and non-confrontational.

Having patriotic music playing would be great, if anyone has the ability to broadcast. Also flags to fly. Studies have shown that conservatism rubs off on people who view flags!

Obviously, the more people the bigger the statement, so please come by if only for a little bit. If we get at least 20 rsvps maybe I'll try to put out a press release (once figure out how)

Are you still doing the event tomorrow, with the signs at Arapahoe and Parker?

It has been brought to my attention that having a rally now may cause more harm than good if there is significant ill will towards the Tea Party over the current negotiations.

I am as principled as the next person, but also pragmatic. My eye is on the end goal - returning our country to a sane fiscal condition. Perhaps we lose this battle and work towards the bigger battle of the next election. A Democrat friend of mine suggested that strategy, to give the Tea Party time to "educate" the general population on the need for entitlement reform. Unfortunately, it seems most of them have had their heads stuck where the sun doesn't shine, and so aren't aware of the fiscal crisis. He even went so far as to say he thinks the country is in decent shape! Absurd yes, but he gets a vote the same as you or I.

Our fight is really with the media. We need to engage our friends, neighbors and relatives in a constructive conversation, in hopes of winning at least the independent vote. We know that the conservative principles are what made this country great, and can restore it to greatness given a chance.

We need to develop a message similar to what Obama used to win the election, only this "hope and change" will be a change back to conservative values - the "right" kind of change - pun intended!
