Event Description

The Colorado Joint Budget Briefings begin November 14th, 2012

Citizens of Colorado, Starting November 14th, you need to watch the Colorado Joint Budget Committee Briefings and Hearings. It is YOUR money that is being spent and I promise you that the Unions and special interest groups have representatives (being paid BIG bucks) to plead and twist arms as the Governor's Departments fight over who gets what. One bit of good news is that you can now listen online (so you do not have to drive to Denver and pay for a parking spot). Even better news, committee meetings are now archived so that you can listen when you get home from your day job and fast forward through the boring parts to get to the juicy stuff. The schedule of Department briefings is at: http://www.state.co.us/gov_dir/leg_dir/jbc/jbchome.htm The governor's departments all had to submit their proposed money requests by November first to the JBC staff. A briefing is when the JBC staff goes before the JBC legislators and translates the governor's department requests for more money into English (understandable bars and graphs). All this information is public and the best place to find it is to follow Kent Lambert on twitter and/or Facebook or go to his website http://www.kentlambert.com/  A hearing comes later when the actual Department heads have to come before the JBC Committee members and answer direct questions about what they spent last year and why they need even MORE of your tax money in the upcoming year. This is where the sausage gets made people and I challenge you to pick one Department to keep your Patriot eye on!

Note:  There are links to the audio and other information needed for the Budget Committee at:

November 14 actually starts in the afternoon.

The schedule resumes after Thanksgiving and runs until December 20 and then breaks again until early January.
