Event Description
To mark the 150th anniversary of the surrender of General Robert E. Lee to General Ullysses S. Grant at Appomottox, Virginia, to conclude the American Civil War. Bells will ring across the land for four minutes (one minute for each year of war) starting at 3:15 p.m. ET (1:15 p.m. MT).
