POV - Speakers and Caucus Training

In spite of any number of reasons that I was considering using as an excuse not to go, I made it to the Koelbel Library event this morning. I'm glad I didn't rationalize my way out of it, for a couple of reasons.

The speakers were interesting, even dynamic. The limited training was useful to a voter as ignorant of the caucus process as I am. And, as usual, the 9/12 and Tea Party people were friendly, involved, and helpful. It was, in all honesty, an enjoyable time and I experienced… Continue

Denver Art Museum sells Mao magnets

While visiting the gift shop at the Denver Art Museum last week, I noticed that magnets of Mao Tse-Tung by Andy Warhol were being sold. The manager and buyer for the gift shop, Greg McKay, defended the sale as Andy Warhol art. I told the manager that what he was doing was merchandizing Mao Tse-Tung and that he should reconsider and make better choices than to merchandize one of the greatest mass murders of the 20th century. Andy Warhol has done an a lot of art. Why choose Mao’s portrait? He is… Continue

URGENT - Tea Party Counter-Protest at Obamacare Rally, July 28 at 6:00 p.m.

The SE Metro 9-12 Project group just sent out the following message from the Tea Party of Northern Colorado who learned late yesterday of an Obamacare support rally Tuesday. At the 9-12 meeting Saturday evening several people were planning to join this counter-protest and indicated they would be trying to get to the capitol about 5:30 p.m. Several people had attended a counter-protest last week that surprised the healthcare… Continue

Score 1 for California

California voters just defeated a number of ballot initiatives that were, ostensibly, meant to help reduce the state's massive budget deficit. Good on the voters of California, I say. California is a poster child for the "tax and spend" model of government, a model most Tea Party members are opposed to. The defeat of the California initiatives is being called a "tax revolt" and the results of that "revolt" may well give insight into how the rest of the country's elected officials will react to… Continue

Fliers

I've printed out some fliers and keep them in my car in the event I find a friendly merchant or public bulletin board. So far I've only posted one at the Peaberry Coffee off of Arapaho & 25.
