Event Description
The armistice signed to end World War I at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. To recognize this event the anniversary was celebrated and recognized as "Armistice Day" or "VE Day" (victory in Europe).
In recent years, the date has been designated to recognize all veterans.
