Meet up with Derrick Wilburn and friends of the Rocky Mountain Black Conservatives (formerly the Rocky Mountain Black Tea Party) for the MLK Day Marade.
Denver meeting location from 9:00-10:30 a.m.:
Colfax Avenue and Josephine Street (NW corner)
On the NW corner is the old 7-11 (across Colfax from the new 7-11.) There's no sign on the building but a parking lot in front. We will use that lot for a honk'n wave from 9:00 - 10:00/30.
Staging area for the parade is a couple of blocks away and starts about 10:45 a.m. Start time depends on the end of the presidential inauguration and speech which will be on big screens.
State GOP chair Ryan Call, and many other state and local officials have commited to attend. Secretary of State Scott Gessler has asked to address the group briefly at the end of the marade.
"New "I Support the American Conservatives of Color" t-shirts came in just in time for this event. If you'd like one please bring along an extra $20. The shirts boldly proclaim the mission, plus wearing one helps us identify one another & keep track of the group in the crush of humanity. If you already have an RMBTP or RMBC shirt - wear it!"
Derrick writes: "We attended parade marshal training today &d I'll have a few words to share before we get going but, in a nutshell, we need to ignore & avoid confrontations and confrontational behavior at all costs. Last year we had no problems & I don't anticipate any this year. But we do need to be aware of the fact there are individuals who may not appreciate our presence or participation. Just remember this simple rule of thumb - we want to make the Monday night news for the right reasons!!"
For the honk & wave and other inquiries, bring business cards or pen and paper to share contact info.
