  for legislative leaders across the country.\nHe was a speechwriter fo
 r President Nixon, an education adviser for President Reagan, an appoi
 ntee of both Bush 41 and Bush 43 – and he ran for Governor of Colora
 do as the Republican nominee in 1990.\nJohn grew up in the Colorado mo
 untains, graduated from Principia College, and served as a US Navy sub
