Event Description

August 1, 1876, can be remembered as the date that Colorado became the 38th state.

"A short history of Colorado statehood" was written in 2004 and is a good summary of the history between finding gold in 1859 and the statehood in 1876.

Until relatively recently the occasion was noted with state offices and many city/county closed.  There seems to be hardly any notice of the anniversary now.

Take a moment and reflect on the history of the last 136 years of Colorado history since statehood.

Reminder:  If you have not met the candidates for various offices find an event soon to meet candidates.  Get involved with someone's campaign.  Encourage your family or neighbors to be more involved and certainly more informed.

Have you been to a Chik-fil-A lately?  It seems that Governor Mike Huckabee proposed stopping at your local business for a sandwich or whatever goodies they sell.

Crista Huff has suggested that she might be at the Highlands Ranch location handing out the flag bumper stickers, which sounds like a good idea.
