June 6, 2014, marks the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of the USA, British, and Canadian forces onto the beaches of Normandy, France.
The prayer offered by FDR (recording) and articles may be of interest. One of the articles notes that the curator of the cemetery for the Germans whose bodies were not shipped home often has to explain to young people why people fought such a war. It is beyond their comprehension with the development of the "European Union."

C-span.org will have programming consistent with the anniversary. Also the History Channel was advertising a new program.
If you have relatives who were in World War II, spend some time with them. If not, spend some time reading some history or visiting a cemetery or a nursing home.
Many thanks to all who served and have been called the "Greatest Generation." It was also the people, the women and many others, who comprised the work force in the factories and ship yards who stepped up.
